HPV Support Group
Human papillomavirus is a diverse group of DNA-based viruses that infect the skin and mucous membranes of humans. More than 100 different human papillomavirus (HPV) types have been characterized. Some HPV types cause benign skin warts, or papillomas, for which the virus family is named. HPVs associated with the development of such "common warts" are transmitted...
My would go away, come back, go away. stay strong, you are a wonderful person, it will all work out.
I was told to stop smoking, urinate after intercourse, plenty of vitamin c, and daily vitamins. hope this helps. remember, you are not alone!
I am still in shock and very scared.
I tried my best all day to not think about it, but i still had it in the back of my mind.
I managed to talk to a friend, i did not tell her the situation but i told her to keep me in my prayers.
I forgot to mention, i am a "church-going-girl" so any one that even knows i had sex, they would freak out.
but like i said, i kind of just told my really close friend to keep me in her prayers and that i would tell her when i am ready. she just told me that whatever it is, she would not judge me and support me, so she is one of my options for more support!
i wanted to know some more info about it:
1. does HPV interfere with your period?
2. Do warts hurt?
3. do all types of HPV's include warts?
i think thats all they questions i want to ask for now, ill think of some more later.
as for telling my parents, i just cant imagine telling my mom that i have an STD, that would just crush her. She was the first person i thought about when i got the call from the nurse, but this would just break her heart. She knows something is wrong (she knows me so well) but i just tell her im fine and that im stressed out.for now, telling her is not an option :(
I am being supported by my X partner, which has been the only person i have had sex with. He's going to get tested next week and he wants to go to the gyno. with me for the follow up.
i just never thought i would get anything like this.
one of my biggest concerns are the warts, cervical cancer and if i am ever going to find a partner that will except me, even with this condition. i feel like temporary pleasure just caused me a lifetime of pain, and i cant get passed that.
They don't hurt if they are left alone... but they cause some pain during treatment. A laser or topical gel like Condylox will make you uncomfortable during treatment... just know that with it comes the comfort of knowing that you're expelling them from your body.
And not all HPV types mean you will get actual warts... just that you could get them at any time. It's a virus and will make itself known to you when your immune system crashes.
Talk to your doctor and read up from CREDIBLE internet sites... anything AMA certified is credible, anything from the CDC is good. I'd also check out some of the University medical journals on the web, there are some good ones out there. Don't listen to what people on this site and others say and take it as gospel... I'm not trying to upset anyone but I've read some outrageous stuff on here in the past. And it's OK if you don't tell your parents about what you have... you don't have to. I never told my family and I'm doing well now... just get yourself a comfort zone and a support group that you can fall into. Whether that be on this site or preferably someone you can see and talk with. Good luck, we are all here for you.
i know how you are feeling. I found out in April that I have the hvp that is just in the cervix after atleast 5 yrs of abnormal paps. I have to go back and get tested every 4-6 months. I have had one LEEP procedure done where they remove cells for further testing 1-1.5 yrs ago. I was supposed to have another one done at the end of my but had to cancel that procedure due to an unexpected pregnancy. it may take time to get rid of it completely.
I am going through the exact same thing as you- I just found out last Tuesday that i have high risk HPV and i am freaking out! I was scared to tell my parents as well, but to be honest they were so much more supportive than I could've imagined. If you feel like you need someone to talk to though im here, and going through the same thing.
From what i understand the immune system thing is true, so i've started really watching my diet and taking vitamins daily! I've been making 'green smoothies' with avacados, celery, spinach, hemp seed, lemon juice, and tons of stuff to try and help. I've done lots of research and from what i understand, HPV thrives in bodies that are acidic, so i've really been focusing on an Alkaline diet.
I have my appointment on Tuesday for a 'cloposcopy' so i have yet to talk to a doc, but my boyfriend went to his GP who is a specialist in the field. after describing my situation, the GP was so conviced that I (and you!) are in the best situation possible. We are young with good immune systems and he said we have EVERY chance that our bodies will fight it off. And to look on the bright side of this, its so good that we found out so we can monitor it. much better than not knowing.
Hope ur feeling a bit better :)
Keep me updated!
