Just about a year and a half ago, I found a wart on my genitals and was diagnosed with HPV. It was a hard road, but I got rid of them and started forgiving myself and tried to accept what was to be my lifelong battle with a virus I aquired from a reckless, asshole of a partner. That was until I found what appeared to be raised bumps on my tongue. My new doctor believes this may be oral warts and honestly? I suspected they may be but that reality has been harder to come to terms with than I anticipated. With a serious history of cancer on both sides of my family I am understanably anxious, depressed, concerned and generally, a well-hidden mess. My doctor prescribed the antiviral acyclovir to me but I'm worried it won't help a thing as these are mainly for genital herpes. Has anyone else found relief with this antiviral? She also said that if the antiviral does not work, "we may have a problem". Has anyone else struggled with oral warts? Any suggestions? I've been crying a lot lately. It's hard to cope with all of this. I've been dealing with this on my own for the last year and I really just need some advice as to how to get past this. I really just need to know someone else has experienced this and it has gotten better. I feel scared, alone and disgusting. It's hard not to blame myself. I feel like all the stress and the depression is weakening my immune system and just making things worse. Any help will be welcomed.
