CIN 3 and High-Risk HPV

Hi everyone. My name is Caitie and I am 25 years old, and was diagnosed with high-risk HPV about one month ago. I started this journey a little over a year ago when my Pap test returned abnormal with Low-grade lesions on my cervix. I was told to follow up in one year. A month and a half ago I went back and again my results were abnormal so I was sent to get a colposcopy, which is a biopsy of the cervix and vagina if needed. That was the most painful thing I have ever experienced down there! My results returned with CIN3 and high risk HPV. Needless to say I panicked in every way possible with questions like..  DO I HAVE CERVICAL CANCER?? and HOW DID I GET THIS, WHO GAVE IT TO ME, and WHY DID IT GET SO BAD? I go in for the LEEP procedure tomorrow and I'm hoping it will take all of this away. I'm extremely nervous but I know I can handle whatever comes my way.. And I have read about success stories, so that makes me feel a lot better. If anybody has words of advice or encouragement I would greatly appreciate it as this is a really scary time for me. Hi Caitie! Like you, I was torn apart and confused at the diagnosis. Thankfully, my colpolscopy came back clear. My friend had to undergo a LEEP procedure and is fine after that. She has to go every 6 months to follow up. Hoping your LEEP was a success. God bless!

Hi Katie,

I completely understand the pain of a biopsy!! Terrible!! I had to have one on my cervix and vulva. The cervix wasn't so terrible but with the vulvar one I couldn't walk very well for two full weeks!! I told everyone that I had a biopsy on my thigh because I didn't want anyone to know or judge me. I hope your procedure goes well!! Sending positive thoughts and prayers your way!!

I had the leep done 4 months ago. Finding out I even had High risk HPV was horrible enough. The biopsy was so bad that I almost passed out afterwards. Leep was a breeze compared. I go back in March for my annual...frustrating when you have something that most people clear on their own and you can't. Hang in there.

I wish more people would talk about Hpv. A majority of the population will have it at some point or another.

Hi Caitie and everyone... i have my LEEP and cone biopsy scheduled in dec (my gyro basically said that she will have to go deeper then a simple LEEP to get the entire lesion). my story is pretty similar to all of yours, tested high risk HPV positive about 16 months ago, was told everyone has it, as long as my paps are normal all is good, i'll clear it, you know the drill. turns out that i am one of the exceptions where the pap was always normal but after the biopsy they found CIN III. scary as hell! but more scary is reading every combination of leep/hpv/CIN/etc on the internet. i had a panic attack today just from being so stressed out about what the LEEP will reveal. I have read some horrible stories. it surprises me that "the talk" you get is still so generic and positive, high risk types of HPV progress so quickly. anyways, i would really encourage everyone to not read the internet, its pretty horrible. everyone is different and even the LEEP treatment varies across women depending on your cervix. its so cliche to say but i have really found how important it is to stay positive, it's really our only defense. <3

Hi everyone,

I just posted a new topic about how I have to get LEEP in a few weeks. This made me feel better but I am still very nervous. any words of encouragement would be appreciated!

As far as my relationship goes, how do I know if it is from my boyfriend or not? Do i need to be concerned about contracting more bad "strains" after the Leep procedure gets most of it out?
