Human papillomavirus is a diverse group of DNA-based viruses that infect the skin and mucous membranes of humans. More than 100 different human papillomavirus (HPV) types have been characterized. Some HPV types cause benign skin warts, or papillomas, for which the virus family is named. HPVs associated with the development of such "common warts" are transmitted...
My coloposcopy came back CIN 2 which is a moderate amount of abnormal cells and the recommendation was a LEEP where the doctor cuts out these abnormal cells before they can become cancer. I was told do things to enhance my natural immunity - get adequate sleep, reduce stress, eat healthy, consistent exercise and eliminate any unhealthy habits (like smoking, alcohol, drugs - including recreational marijuana, etc. I never did smoke, drink alcohol or use drugs but I just thought I'd mention that for completeness) I gave up drinking soda and eliminated caffeine a year ago so this year my focus is sleep and stress reduction.
There was no HPV vaccine when I was a pre-teen so older people are getting HPV, it's not a young woman's health problem, it's every woman's health problem (sadly)
I have focused on my immunity - stress reduction, sufficient sleep, reducing sugar, eliminating caffeine ( I never drank alcohol or smoked) I also started taking Host Defense Turkey Tail mushrooms (3 capsules on an empty stomach in the morning and 3 capsules on an empty stomach at night) I dont know if they are helping or not. There are lots of products out there and most of them are very expensive and who knows if they are truly effective or not.
The outwards symptoms of warts and blisters can come and go so the outward signs and symptoms (the warts and blisters) may not be forever present for you to see with your unaided eye but the viruses themselves are forever in your body. The determining factor on whether the virus changes from the inactive to the active state is your own personal immunity.
Both herpes and HPV are spread by skin to skin contact so my opinion is that anyone that knows they have HPV and/or herpes need to inform and educate ALL partners BEFORE you have any skin to skin contact with them. A condom only covers the penis and the covered penis enters the vagina but BOTH HPV and HERPES can live on the entire genital area, it is not isolated to the penis, vagina and cervix - it is the entire genital region so oral sex and any contact of the infected area can result in the transmission of both HPV and Herpes so I believe you need to inform and educate ALL potential intimate partners of the genuine risks and dangers of HPV and Herpes BEFORE you have any skin to skin contact with them.
Your focus should be on improving your health and strengthening your immune system so the viruses are inactive and you dont have visible warts and blisters present BUT please remember - just because you dont have visible warts and blisters at a specific moment in time doesnt mean that the herpes and HPV viruses are truly "gone" They are NOT gone, these viruses ARE FOREVER they just happen to be inactive at that specific moment in time but they could become active at any moment in time. You can go from inactive today to active tomorrow, there is no way to predict or know.
No one knows the specific moment in time when they will go from inactive to active, so since it is indeterminable, your assumption should be you are contagious and you should inform all potential partners BEFORE you have any skin to skin contact so that you dont inflict the same pain and suffering (emotional, physical and financial suffering) on others. You dont want to do to someone else what was done to you.
