Letmehelpyou, I concur. The loneliness and grief, initially, were overwhelming and I struggled with being alone. One day I realized that I am not alone, I am single. It took a lot of work to get to a place where I could say that I'm happy being a widow. But I am. I had a good marraige to a good man. I enjoy meeting new people and doing new things but I am quite content being single and I LOVE myself and who I am! 2 years ago, I couldn't tell you who I was. I was so lost and confused by the blow that life had dealt me. Now, I am very happy with ME and how I live my life. Not perfect but I take care of things, have a good heart and I am LOVED beyond what could be imagined!

It has been 25 months and while I am starting to consider spending time on a date with someone or meeting for coffee somewhere, it scares the bejeebeez out of me .I am 50 years old and also 50 lbs heavier than I was 27 + years ago when I met Howie. It is hard for me to compute that most men in my age group also have added weight over the years. I know that most men are not that shallow and that it is just my way of thinking in regards to my looks . I believe that is another reason why I am not quite ready. I know I have also added growth to the person I used to be and that in itself is a very good quality. Just as my husband walked into my life all those years ago, I guess it will happen if it's meant to happen.

my husband died in 2011, November and in July 2013 I fell head over heels for a great man. I just broke it off in December 2014.. it was serious enough but i did not want to give up my life i have built alone...i do not regret the feelings or the situation and think everyone has a time frame based on their needs and their life. For me, again i would think at least give yourself time to live alone...learn to be content without seeking out or being focused on a relationship

i think it is easy to get caught up in the need for a relationship but i also feels its fine to never remarry and there should be no pressure to couple

It's funny to read back on my old posts. Just recently, I was perfectly content being alone. But, I've gotten very serious about the man I met on Match. He is very serious about me as well. It makes me sad to read about these break ups because I finally have hope of having a life with somebody. Maybe it's just the growing pangs of widowhood. I feel completely in love with this guy. And it happened over sitting in the tailgate of his truck, talking. Every time I am with him, I fall in love a little bit more. I really want to spend my life with him and have his last name. It's early on. I'm at 2 years. I met him 2 months ago. Very early. But it doesn't scare me. The feeling is marvelous!

life happens and I think nothing wrong with break ups because they teach us much about who we are. Enjoy being in love, its fantastic

Russ, I do understand exactly what you mean. I am too passed two years and without meaning to, whilst traveling in Vienna (Austria), I met an Englishman who amazingly enough also lives in London. He showered me with attention and evident admiration for me made me take notice. I told him I was a widow and that I was not ready to start A serious relationship. He understands and we meet often. We have a lot in common (like me he likes arts and the opera, and he likes traveling).

Frankly, I do not know what I feel. I do not feel like Juliet to her Romeo but I like him. So I am taking it slow. The thing that worries me about him is that he never was married so I don't know. He is a man friend to me but there is the added bonus that he admires me and at the moment that is what I need.

I believe in what will be will be. It is good to give new relationships a chance but taking it slow is the key, to my mind.
