For me, I was lost to answer this. It took me 3 years of learning to be single, even though I continued to feel married. This is not a suggestion for anyone as we all grieve at our own time frame. I was a slow learner, probably because I married my high school sweetheart and had little experience on my own.
My first venture was a friendship. I needed to get used to making my own decisions and he was and is a great friend who helped me grow. About a year later, we grew to be less involved and I met my current husband. I am not the person who married my high school sweetheart. I am not the person who buried him. I am whole with myself and able to love again. Sharon

Our loss is so encompassing, we are overwhelmed. But with time & support, for example DS, we grow & begin to function as a new individual.
