Homeschooling Support Group
This community is dedicated to parents, educators, and students involved with home schooling. Home schooling - also called home education or home school - is the education of children at home, typically by parents or guardians, rather than in a public or private school. If you have chosen to provide education to your children at home, join the group and get support.
Can your school system provide academic assistance, either in class, during school hours in a different room ('resource center'), or before or after regular school hours? I am not a special needs advocate, attorney, or teacher, but if academics are the problem the school might be required to help.
Does your school system offer an option for partial enrollment? She could be enrolled for part of the day - mornings or afternoons , whichever works better for you all - and do the rest of her work at home. This would give her partial respite, and hopefully she could focus less on academics and more on coping (with anxiety) skills that she ought to be learning (in therapy) for the part of the day that she's in school.
When she goes to the nurses office, Is it because the nurse is giving her medication?? If the nurses office is just being used as a neutral place for her to calm down, then I wonder if she could take whatever work /text they were using in the class she left and go to either the school library or some kind of resource room and keep on working on her own?? When her anxiety comes on and she goes to the nurses office does she take her work with her??
You certainly could homeschool her if you both choose, but there are (and should be) other, in-school, options available to you.
As far as social activities and homeschooling... Some areas have homeschool coops or associations you can join that sometimes provide social activities. Al.so, local churches (if that fits with your lifegoals), libraries, and zoos sometimes have public activites for kids that are often (at least for churches and libraries) free.
At this point I would have more questions than answers about this. . Here are some links about kids and anxiety and one about home school groups :
