I'm not homeless either. I doubt very many people who come here are currently homeless - how would they have Internet access - except maybe the public library? - but I joined because I was once homeless and I've been one paycheck away from being homeless more than once. Thought maybe I could offer something. Not sure what! But something.

Hi!!! I never thought I would end up homeless, but have now been for going on 6 months. Its really hard!!! the friends I thought were friends, turned out they couldnt or would help, but..no animosity. I know when I went to the shelter, I wasnt proud, I was embarrassed to let others know where I was living. Its very humbling. I used to have my children, a job, a home, then because of 1 situation, lost it all.

Having a friend is always helpful!!! Thank for your compassion and understanding for us "homeless". PS. Yes, I do use the public library for internet access, used to have it when I had a home,but you find way you make do and survive :-)

How did it happen? Does it help to talk about it? It's really late tonight but tomorrow I'll tell my story about becoming homeless. I laugh about it now. Not so fuinny at the time!! I really believe it made my marriage stronger though. When all you've got is eachother ...

It happened, because when my husband left, I went to New Mexico to go bring him back home,while i was gone, my landlord through all my stuff out and moved somebody else in, i told my boss i was going to be gone for 2 weeks, while in missourri, the truck broke down, so i was 1 week late getting back to work, so i lost my job.

That's unforgivable on your landlord's part!! In New York state that is against the law. Yes they can evict you but they must retain your belongings. FOR SEVEN YEARS. You have seven years to come back and get your belongings. They must store them in the meanwhile.

What about personal belongings, photos and things with sentimental value? Did this man have no heart! Can you sue him for damages? Surely you must be heart broken.

Does your husband take off to places and need to be rescued often?

My heart really goes out to you. I cannot imagine losing everything. You could understand to lose all one's belongings in say a house fire, but because a landlord was greedy and wanted an immediate income. Unbelievable.

Yeah- pretty much everything was thrown out. As for getting him in court, somehow the lease went missing, so i have no way to prove that i even had the right to be there. Does my husband leave like this often? This was the first time he left the state, although he says cuz of his bi-polar he has done this before. we have been talking with our pastor and church to see if they can help in someway. thanks for your support!!!!

I used to be homeless, up until about a month ago. It kinda started with drugs and alcohol. I had lots of chances to get off the streets but always screwed it up by drinking. I would ride freight trains and hitchike not even knowing were I was going. It got to the point were my family wouldn't even accept my calls, unless I was in jail, then they would just to know I was alive. I just got a job and am saving money to get a place of my own. They're was a point when I gave up on myself and it's easy to do that, when your homeless you have a social stigma on you and I felt worthless most of the time.
