Hives Support Group
Hives is a relatively common form of allergic reaction that causes raised red skin welts. These welts can range in diameter from 5 mm (0.2 inches) or more, itch severely, and often have a pale border. Urticaria is generally caused by direct contact with an allergenic substance, or an immune response to food or some other allergen. Hives can also be caused by stress.
Take Care and God Bless
No, I don't think its related to the ED because it doesn't happen all of the time and I've had it been going on for me since my knee surgeries like 4-5 years ago with all of the ice packs. but I know what you mean with the feeling cold all of the time, and no not at the moment through the eating phase I'm going through at the moment.
Yeah, I have HIGHLY sensitive skin, mainly face, but can't even put extra sensitive sunscreen on it most of the time so I usually don't bother anymore, it just burns my face more than the actual sun would! But nah, its not the detergent or soaps because they only come and go around cold things.
Yeah, thanks it helped. You too, thanks :)
In terms of cold-activated hives, it can also go the other way for me - really hot temperatures can induce my hives. Usually, my hives are painful and internal only (you'll see red blotches on the palms of my hand). So I try to prepare for the cold weather early on (mittens, pockets). Use warm water when washing your hands, etc. Mine can also be induced by other non-allergens such as pressure (e.g. slapping, sitting too long in one place) and scratching. Not sure if it's due to the same thing since I just have chronic urticaria AND dermatographia (two separate but related conditions). My allergist ran some blood work and it seems like the underlying cause of all of this that I have abnormally high IgG levels, which is an antibody that is common with people that have allergy hypersensitivities.
But basically, if whatever you're currently using to treat your allergies isn't working, I would highly recommend following up with your allergist again.
