Hives Support Group
Hives is a relatively common form of allergic reaction that causes raised red skin welts. These welts can range in diameter from 5 mm (0.2 inches) or more, itch severely, and often have a pale border. Urticaria is generally caused by direct contact with an allergenic substance, or an immune response to food or some other allergen. Hives can also be caused by stress.
I've been on the forum for months, got great help so far for my gastritis.
I lurked onto this forum because of my mother, she gained stress hives from stress at college. Doctors assumed she "hit the threshold" and now the slightest bit of stress gives her hives. She believes that, but also believes her constant consumption of energy drinks are causing the break outs.
She takes a lot of medications for it, but I've lost track on what does the trick for her (all I know is it involves Zyrtec liquid gelcaps, not the tablets).
I've asked if she can try anything like Aveeno oatmeal bath (works for my dry skin) but she doesn't know. I asked if she can join the support forum for more information and research, but she claimed she got on this forum once and was scared away from stories about how "this will never go away"
So, at least I thought I'd do the asking for her. You know anything that can help my mom and her college induced stress hives?
Oh, and people with stress hives, try laying off the energy drinks, see if that helps.

As for the energy drinks I don't know if they are causing them or not but my Dr told me that if I suspect something to just stop it for 2 weeks if the hives don't go away in two weeks it isn't whats causing the hives.
If her hive are caused form stress I would do all I can to prevent her stress. Ask her if anything is bothering her on a daily basis and try to remove anything that is causing stress to her if possible. Good Luck with your mom.
