I have read your post and wish you well. This has been my most lethargic day in months, so it isnt appropriate to give advice. I didnt want to offer platitudes, but an actual heartfelt suggestion. The only thing I will say is that if you were active a while back, you still have the habit of good behavior in you. You just have to find it again. I will try to do the same, ha ha.
Nice to see you again. It's understandable you can't visit as much if you are working. it's good you have a job.:)
Self motivation can be tough sometimes. Sometimes We may need that cheerleader to say come on let's get going. And don't forget we've had these hibernation winter months. Can make us a bit unmotivated. Nicer weather is around the corner.
I will be your cheerleader though I need my own cheerleader. Lol
I have to get up and move more. It is a challenge with the arthritis and fibro but I try.
I'm also in physical therapy for my shoulder.
So ok
You can do it! Or should I say WE can do it. :)
just start off with something simple to get you kick started.
Baby steps.
When you were active what was the thing you liked the most?
Make that your goal to work towards. I don't know what sports you were involved in. And what your physical ability is.
But maybe start with walking. Go for a brisk walk before or after work.
If you drive to work. Maybe park further away from the entrance.
So you have to walk further.
Use stairs instead of the elevator.
I don't know if music motivates you but putting on some up beat music may help you to get moving.
Heck just dance in your living room or wherever you have space. I do this, even with my knees!
Then check what's going on in your neighborhood for the activities you are interested in.
And if you feel a bit tired it is probably because you've been busy with your job.
maybe check out what you are eating. Make an energy smoothie, Eat some small snacks like a handful of almonds, Trail mix.
Make sure you eat protein.
And hydration is important. We can feel a bit tired and sluggish if we are not drinking enough water.
Good luck.
I liked what naturegirl65, had to say- I like brisk walking myself its easy todo and can be done any where at any time. I also like playing fun music and dancing around if the weather is raining outside or just to have fun in the evening if there is nothing to do. Playing fun music also motivates you if you want to pump a few weights- which also burns more calories to loose weight / combo with aerobic exercise great for over all toning.
The last two weeks when I was at yoga training ... I knew it would be tough. I did a little talk to body and said ... I will take care of you and we will work through these postures. I make promises of self care directly to my limbs muscles and internal organs. sounds weird but to me it is all involved. I do not abruptly put my body into motion with out having some visualizations first. Then once the direction is regular ... there is no conversation just connecting through movement, form, grounding, kenisetic experience etc.
Same thing goes for creativity. I don't wait for ideas or inspiration. I set up the canvas ... the paper with tools to go. I start before I FEEEEEEEL like it. doesn't have to be rewarding. Just going through the motions and then eventually that arch type awakens and I am prepared for the creative/active connection.
In other words I set up for receptivity like getting the soil ready for the seed. It is no fun plowing either but it is part of the process.
