The highly sensitive person (or HSP) is someone who cares deeply about everything ... feels emotions with great intensity ... is highly conscientious ... has a rich and complex inner life ... is very intuitive ... is often creative in a variety of ways... is easily overwhelmed and/or overstimulated. A HSP needs lots of quiet time, space, and freedom. If this sounds...

It is difficult to break free from conditioning and I realize that this can take time and I need to be more patient with myself. I am definitely too hard on myself and compare myself to others.
Thank you for your words of encouragement and for understanding so well. Yes, I think that keeping in touch with my inner world will be key. I always do best when I have the time to meditate, do yoga, and just be alone. Now it seems overwhelming because I have not felt I have the time for these things anymore.
Things feel more complicated because of my age and feeling like my clock is ticking. But it makes sense to micro manage things now.
Sometimes I wish I could have accomplished things sooner in my life, but it is what it is.
I am hoping I will feel more confident in a few months. Sometimes, I get flare-ups ouf of nowhere where I suddenly feel stressed again and there seems to be no good reason why. But I can't worry about whether or not this will happen in the future with work.
Thanks for reminding me to slow down a bit.
It's about how we can gain self confidence through body posture. The results are pretty remarkable.
As to the empathy issue, I had a teacher who helped me with that. She said to imagine the client as wearing a sweater and empathy is trying that sweater on. But then give it back to them - it is theirs, not yours. That visualization always helped.
Hoping things work out for you.
I like the suggestion about the sweater. Never heard of it before, but will give it a try.
