The highly sensitive person (or HSP) is someone who cares deeply about everything ... feels emotions with great intensity ... is highly conscientious ... has a rich and complex inner life ... is very intuitive ... is often creative in a variety of ways... is easily overwhelmed and/or overstimulated. A HSP needs lots of quiet time, space, and freedom. If this sounds...
I do remember way more than my family of events from the past, I thought it was feelings related but I am not sure.
At school, I was learning my poems/poetries in an hour, same for piece of theatre or history.
It was really pissing off my friends !
In a lot of ways we are much smarter than the average, but I know there are things I will never be able to do because I don't have the capacity (the brain is limited and you can't be good at everything).
It is a gift and a curse because people don't understand simple things (obvious for me), and it creates trouble to communicate with people.
Moreover, I am only interested in subjects which matter and I have a lot of difficulties to communicate (speaking or writing).
One side of our brain is being more used than the average people (After an intense day of focusing I can feel it),
It is unfair for us, we often speak about feelings but we forget this.
Thank you for bringing up this topic !
julchr, maybe being all around sensitive makes all our senses more active, awake.
Also more about long term memories vs short term would be interesting-long term seems to be easier to recall, studies have shown, and my elderly grandparent did too by that recalling things from their childhood but nothing from recently, or that often if asked what we had for dinner we draw a blank, I did a class experiment on that "what did you have for dinner" years ago, in science RE memory.
My mother says I've had a good memory for years since I was young, I am asked by my mother often- do I know who this person is in this photograph or do you recall what I wore to this event in 1979?
I have recalled things that other family thought no way could I remember that, was not old that from age 3
My fiance remembers stuff from films that we watch that I don't remember. But then I remember stuff that he doesn't remember.
Once I am focus, I am in my world, I don't hear anyone around me, it could be the end of the world I would not see it. It is then very exhausting. When I do that, I am really tired at the end of the day.
We learn to think, not to feel. Learn to feel and dream and you will focus on your art work easily.
It's interesting what our brains are capable of remembering or recalling things from long ago.
