Highly Sensitive People HSP Community Group
The highly sensitive person (or HSP) is someone who cares deeply about everything ... feels emotions with great intensity ... is highly conscientious ... has a rich and complex inner life ... is very intuitive ... is often creative in a variety of ways... is easily overwhelmed and/or overstimulated. A HSP needs lots of quiet time, space, and freedom. If this sounds...

I have read info that some people are sensitive to coffee whether caffeinated or not.
Coffee is also acidic and that maybe another reason to avoid if someone is dealing with an inflammatory disorder.
Someone mentioned quinoa. I Love it. It is A great alternative gluten free grain. I like the red quinoa.
I also drink almond milk rather than regular milk.
@Happiness18, that is so good to hear. I was tested for celiac but result came back negative however these tests aren't always accurate and one doctor said that if I feel better with gluten free then that's my body responding and another doctor I see actually advised me on my last visit to stick with GF because I have an inflammatory disease.
I was straying from the gluten free more and was finding it difficult to adhere to but since being more diligent with eating GF again I do notice I have a little more energy so I will keep on with it and also my stomach issues are better too.
The good thing is there are plenty of alternatives available now. At one time gluten free products were not in regular supermarkets and stores but I had to find things in health food shops but now there's gluten free sections in most supermarkets or you can buy online. I bake my own sometimes. Yesterday I made cinnamon bagel gluten free bagels. First attempt. What I ended up with did not resemble a bagel. Lol. But it sure tasted like one. Pretty good.
I'm glad you started this conversation because I'm reading everyone's response's and many have said they were a vegetarian for awhile or alittle and now aren't because they need meat proteins. I am a vegetarian and have been since I was 9! I feel faintish a lot if I do not eat food every 2 hours, it's horrible. Funny thing tho, my blood work always shows that I'm not anemic! And even more, that I'm very healthy and my potassium and such are perfect. I can't figure it out! I hate eating meat because I do feel bad for the little animals :( but mainly because I hate the taste and get mentally ill when I think of what I'm eating....
And this may sound weird, but I feel like I can *taste that it's a .."dead animal." I tried to eat meat at a few restaurants recently and it tasted so bad! Anyone else feel this way?
If I try eating meat again (ew) I don't know where to go. Fast food? Restaurants? or only cook at home?
The comments on coffee are interesting too. As a highly sensitive child, my grandma swore by giving me coffee to drink, saying that it would calm me down. Highstrung and a third gen stutterer. I always thought that the two stimulants interacted such as is the case of Ritalin.
I love coffee, have been anemic over the years and thought, right, I'm giving up coffee to aid calcium absorption.
I weaned off but life just isn't life without a cup or two of the brew!
As someone mentioned SSRIs, I'll add that after a month on generic citalopram and multiple side effects, I have now commenced Prozac (E.Lily) as the generics are not gluten free.
I'm frequently overwhelmed and have been for quite some time, but we're working on that ;-)
I pick up others moods. I just wish I was not so in tune with others emotions.
