Some of the people I knew then made a difference in my life. I do believe in the principles of giving help, support, encouragement, comfort. That was a big part of the church I went to.
For me, church was the outdoors or a peaceful place.
In my early teens, my beliefs changed, but then maybe I did not have any definite beliefs yet, it was all I knew.
I have defined myself as agnostic, neither faith nor disbelief, now I see it as spiritual-
"of, relating to, or affecting the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things"
synonyms: nonmaterial, incorporeal, intangible;
inner, mental, psychological;
transcendent, ethereal, otherworldly, mystic, mystical, metaphysical;
rareextramundane
"your spiritual self" "
In a way, it was good. I joined a new church, friendly people, great messages. I go to my old church from time to time, and it's just not as friendly. I know we don't go to church for friends, but it makes it meaningful.
Yep I go to Catholic church. As I mature I'm learning that Church is part of my faith....and my faith is for me!
So even if I get overwhelmed by the number of people at mass, the people next to me chatting, a message in the sermon that is difficult to interpret, it's ok!
My time at Church, is my protected time for thought, reflection, thanksgiving and peace. God is everywhere but you can't always get those things at home!
Respect to all of you.
