There is a huge relationship between thyroid function and blood levels of cholesterol and triglycerides.
Think of your body's metabolism as a gas furnace. If thyroid hormone gets too low, ( hypothyroid) your body's internal flame goes down and burns a weak yellow and orange flame.
But if you replace the missing hormone, your body's internal furnace burns a strong hot blue flame, which burns off calories and lipids, thus lowering blood lipids.
Its that simple.

Armour will have a greater impact in lowering blood lipids than Synthroid. The reason is because of the high T3 content in Armour. Synthroid is straight synthetic T4.
I take Armour, but not everyone can tolerate Armour. Have to go with what works best for you.
Now I am on Armour, but for some reason my Doc didn't really seem to think it would do any good. I did a lot of research and it helps more people than not. I am on a very small dose and have been upping it every two weeks. I let Doc know when I do.
Straight T3 gave me palpations, so I had to stop that.
I hope I see some improvement in my lipids Monday. I have very bad genticly caused lipids. And I really worry about that. I shouldn't but it's on my mind.
