Statins

I've been on pravastatin only a week and feel nauseous and weak. Doctor said get off the pravastatin but how do I treat the side effects?

If you stop the pravastatin then the side effects should stop within a day or two. There is no way that I know of to treat side effects of any medication other than stopping the offender. Luckily, there is no need to "wean off" of a statin like many medications, so you should get relief quickly.

Statins, in general, are a minefield full of side effects many of which are very dangerous. I recommend that you study up on the subject before taking any other types. More than likely, your doctor will want you to try everyone in the book.

Below is a link to a great site that really digs into statins. The site owner is a retired family doctor who decided to join NASA as a flight surgeon on the ISS and Space Shuttle. NASA put him on Lipitor and it nearly killed him. The really sad part, there never was a good reason for him to be placed on a statin in the first place.
