Tell us about your personal experience with Lipitor as a treatment: Has it worked? Have you had any issues? Any recommendations or tips?

I've been on 10 mgs. of Lipitor for almost a year. After 3 months of taking it, the doctor did bloodwork and, although my cholesterol was down, he wanted it down a bit more. He upped the dose to 20 mgs. I had a reaction to this (hives) and had to go back to the 10 mgs., but it seems to be working for me.

Lipitor and other Statins cause muscle pains..Have had to discontinue usage.

I went on Lipitor and Metformin for diabetes at the same time. Had terrible leg aches. Went off lipitor and leg aches went away.

Lipitor ruined the quality of my life and there doesn't seem to be a thing anyone can do fix it. I've posted all the details in the other statin posts, so will not repeat here other than to say I suffer from debilitating fatigue & memory problems.

Suffice to say I now think more than twice before taking ANY prescription or supplement.

wistful13 I feel that way as well. ANY Statin has been a horror story for me. In fact, I underwent an extensive test for allergic reactions/interactions with meds about two years ago. The findings were terrible.I am classified as one of those individuals who is unable to take ANY form of antibiotic for anything. I was advised to keep Benedryl handy at all times, just in case something kicks me in the rear and I begin to have any type of reaction. I fear some catastrophic incident where people need something like CIPRO.. remember Washington DC when the Letters were being sabatoged.. I live there at the time and they were talking about giving everyone CIPRO.. I felt as if I were doomed.
So, here I sit with my little packet of benedryl pills and insta tabs that desolve in the mouth.. Just waiting for whatever to strike me!

Lipitor worked on my whole body
it would be first one thing then another going wrong, it even made my lips sore and crack, UTI, Got like a blood blister on my hand, end up it put a rash all over my body. I was taken off of it. Just a matter of time everything went back to normal. Thank God . *Lipitor would have killed me*.
