One day in the future, the fad of lowering cholesterol will be over. Forums like this about "managing cholesterol" will fade into history, just like the 8 track tape player.

I hope so too, but with so much money on the line, it will be a long time. During one of the two Australian TV shows that MedLab1, and I, have both linked to in other posts, a doctor says that a whole generation of doctors will probably have to die-off before things start to change. What was not said (but implied IMO) was that a whole lot of patients will have to die also.

Somewhere I either read or heard, that there are at least 20 new cholesterol MEDs in the development pipeline, which is the real hidden reason for the current publicity since most all (except Crestor) are now generic with little profits available. Just wait until one or more of the new MEDs get FDA approval. The doctors will push it (them) and the prices will skyrocket.
