What diet did your doctor suggest?
You could have a look at http://www.whatisldl.com/cholesterol-diet/ : the justs tarted daily diet diary of my friend: in Jan 2012 LDL 120mg/dl went up in Sep 2012 to 143mg/dl. (total went up from 189 to 216)
If losing weight is your priority, then your daily saturated fat intake should be 7% of your daily energy intake (less than 16 g for a 2000 kCal diet) and your total fats should be between 25% and 35% of your energy intake.
Main thing is if you eat fat, make sure they are not trans fat and as little as saturated fats as possible. This boils down to substituting meat and seafood (especially squid) to veggies and fruit, having nuts and fruits (or soup) for snack and substituting diary for veggie alternatives (olive oil in stead of butter, almond milk in stead of milk...)
Hope that helps blessed19, otherwise ask again or head over to my friends site and ask him :) He would love to find "a partner in crime".
