Yes, tried it, and for me it didn't work. Candesartan worked better.

Side effects on the -sartans (angiotensin receptor blockers) are less than most other drugs, but I seem to remember losartan making me a bit tired.

Hi Amy. I have taken both Cozaar and the generic form, Losartan. I fact, I still take it on an as needed basis as my main BP med is atenolol, but sometimes atenolol alone does not control my BP well enough. I have never taken it as a stand alone med so I can't say if Losartan alone will control your BP well. It seems to be a hit or miss drug as it works great for some and does nothing for others. A couple of side effect things you might want to watch out for, based on my experience: Muscular pain, particularly in arms, shoulders, and legs, and a weak or "dead" feeling in legs. Also, this med has a dehydrating effect on the body, so you will want to be sure you drink plenty of water, especially in warm weather or your BP can go too low. Hope this helps, and Good Luck!

Losartan works for some but take a look at this:

There are a couple of studies out there that show candesartan as being more effective than losartan, though these are often sponsored by the manufacturers of candesartan of course! However, it is my experience too.
