I went in for a checkup and was still alittle high, plus I fell off my diet, but my Dr. added a RX for Hydrochlorothiazide 25mg alnog with my Diltiazem 240. Anything to look for as far as side effects?

My Doc took me off of that because it was causing crystals to form
in my knees and toes. A precursor of gout. But it doesn't happen to
everyone. I would give it a chance.

Thanks for the reply. I checked the side effects online, but they always list EVERY possible one thats been reported. Always good to hear firsthand accounts. May I ask how you found out about the crystals? Was is something you felt? Or found in a ccheckup by the Dr? Reason I ask is I know a guy that gets gout flare ups and to hear him talk it is pretty intense pain. I'd just like to know if there is something that I could feel that would warn me before I get to the actual point of gout.

Make sure you get blood tests after you have been on the drug for a while. Even on the smallest dose of diuretic (and I have tried several!), my potassium level plummets.

I'm glad I read comments in this thread. My doctor suggested Hydrochlorthazide 25mg, along with Losartan. The only other medicine I was taking was Lipitor. It was very severe and painful. I was thinking it was from the water pill and stopped taking it. I tried it again several weeks later, and the same thing happened. I might try it again but will look up side effects and see if certain foods trigger reactions.

I'm currently on 12.5mg and the side effects I got when I first started taking it were headache and a feeling of being lightheaded. I didn't feel I would fall down or anything, I just felt off.

Everyone reacts different to meds for for myself I had problems breathing. But I have. Sensitive system other than the breathing issue I did ok I also have fibromyalgia and that has breathing problems too

I was on Dil Tiazem .... It was great , but further down the road I developed swelling in legs ankles and feet.. It has now been reduced aand swelling is better . I was put on coversyl and that is causing me many more side effects . Ug never an end to figuring out what your body can best tolerate.

The water pill I usually took every other day and monitored on my own by drs advice . Never at night as I was up all night .That was stopped .

On low dose aspirin . Teva Dil Tiazem and coversyl.
