I really can't give you advice on the medication because I have never heard of Azor before, however I can identify with you as far as stress being a factor with HBP. I am getting ready to change medications because the one I have been taking is too expensive. Tomorrow is the first day I will take my new medication, and I decided to prepare a chart to keep track of my BP readings more closely to see how the new medication is working. I sat down and took my BP just a few minutes ago to have as a point of reference and it was 160/86. I like you panicked and immediately felt a pressure on the left side of my chest (I have had this feeling before when I'm stressed out).
So I decided to come and find out if anyone had written a post on suggestions for lowering blood pressure quickly (Ha Ha Ha), and I found your post so I decided to add my two cents worth, and I already feel much better, the pressure is gone. It is always amazing to me the power of the mind. I'm sure that my new medication will work well for me, I'm just always reluctant to change and wonder if there will be different or more side effects.
I need to trust in God and take it one step at a time. Sorry that I had no advice for you. I wish you the best.
140/90 (your worst reading) really is not that high. Over the years (and on different drugs) I have wavered between 120/80 and 175/115 when measured by a doctor or nurse.
I almost always have a reading 10-20 points higher at the doctor's than at home. My doctor can tell this when I get a 24-hour monitor fitted... very high the first couple of readings (at the doctor's), then dropping down.
