Is there a blood pressure medication that does not cause weight gain? I've been on blood pressure medications for 2 years and I have gained 60 lbs.
I keep myself on a 1400 or less calorie a day diet and I should not be gaining weight. Each one of the medications indicates that one of the side effects is rapid weight gain.
Since being overweight is one of the issues that causes high blood pressure, it would seem to me that medications which cause weight gain would be somewhat counter productive. I don't get it.
Does anyone know of a natural way to reduce blood pressure? Or a medication that does not cause weight gain? This is ridiculous!

I find myself going places in the car and not wanting to get out of the car. I come back home and I don't want to get out of the car. I think it's the only time I spend reflecting. Chronic tiredness from Long Covid plus the immunosupressing meds for my Crohn's is slowing me down but everything just seems a massive effort. I am dealing with the paperwork following my father's death but it's not...

Wow, it's the middle of the week already!Today is our 11 year anniversary, so we're going out to a nice dinner. I'm losing a lot of sleep these days, hence a wonky schedule and uncomfortable feelings. But I know it will pass, eventually.I hope all of you have a peaceful day, and may good things come your way!

Doctor: your blood pressure is too high, the main reason is your age and you are overweight - here are some meds
You: Do these meds cause weight gain?
Doctor: yes they do.
You: So do you have a pill to make me younger?
You might try keeping a food diary it might help you see what you are really eating and how much. Not saying you don't try but written down does help sometimes you can see what you've eaten in black and white.
beet juice, celery juice and Celtic Sea salt has helped lower my BP. But I still need meds.
The best of luck. We've been were you are.
I have another friend who has issues with weight gain. It seems if that is a problem in ones life - it is more inclined to be one with these meds.
I have started to do wheat grass juice, beet juice, garlic tabs, and a few other herbal remedies - and it seems so far so good.
Thanks again for your replies.
And Yes acouriousfish - that is exactly how it goes. It kinds makes one want to strangle the doctor!!
They say 7 hours of sleep is the optimal number. I actually tested it once when I had slept 5 hours and woke up, and for whatever reason decided to weigh myself. Then went back to bed and slept for 2 more hours, and lost a pound! Now THAT's my type of weight loss. Just wish I could do that every day!
Yes to both of your questions. I think you're right. I had a doctor tell me that stress would cause me to hang onto weight and I have had trouble with sleep lately.
I think you are right and thanks for that input.
