So far I am able to handle all side effects of medication... one trick is to use low doses of every meds, although for a good bp control you might take 3-4 different meds.
Of course stop salk intake is the first no side effects treatment to try.
Another possibility is to go for herbal remedies... olive leafs have reputation to lower bp.
Many year ago, a friend of mine makes me an astonishing demonstration of magneto therapy, in 10 minutes, mi bp was done to normal... but he places a very heavy magnet on my chest so you cannot move. But perhaps nowadays they have advance on this technology.

Generally, ACE inhibitors (e.g lisinopril) or angiotension receptor blockers (e.g. candesartan) have fewer side effects than a lot of others. (ARBs are often only given when you can't tolerate ACE inhibitors, as they are more expensive) You often find though that with either of these classes you may need to take a small amount of diuretic with them for them to work best.
