Is anyone on Avalide. I want to know how you are taking it in am or pm and how you're feeling any sideeffects I need to watch out for. I always hate it when the Dr. gives you samples just b/c a new drug came out.

Since it includes a diuretic I would take it in the morning, otherwise you might need to wake up to urinate.

I've just been put on it. I was warned that it is a water pill and will make me pee alot. Other than that I was told not to expect too many side effects. So far I'm just still tired from my blood pressure being high.

Hi everyone, is anyone or has anyone been on this med my doc just changed me to its called htcz it's supposed to be a water pill and help with bp is it better than lasix witch i was on.thanks.

I tried the BP meds given by a doctor. My BP stayed high. I'm now taking vitamins and natural supplements and it is going down. You might want to look into going the natural route. :) It is so much better for your body. Best of luck!

Mysterie7, what vitamins and natural supplements are you taking to lower your bp? My mom's bp is 180/xx at her lowest. She will not take drugs prescribed because they made her stomach upset. How much did your bp change, if you don't mind my asking?

Taking a drug that has been on the market for less than 5 years qualifies you as a guinea pig. Look at all of the drugs that are taken off of the market after a year or two because the problems.

jimpoe: HCTZ is also a diuretic just like lasix. The generic for lasix is furosemide. My understanding is that lasix works for about 10 hours and the HCTZ is longer lasting. I have been on both at one time or another without any side effects other than my toilet paper bill going up :)

JJFlash: I agree with you 100%. I was on a new diabetic medication for over 3 years and gradually it caused joint inflammation to the point that I was having to use a walker. I happened to read an article online about the medication and it warned that new side effects were shown to cause chronic inflammation and that if taken for too long the inflammation could be permanent. I got myself off of it, and within 4 weeks I was back to normal. I do not take any new medications anymore.
