How I manage my HS!
Posted by: Mygel2Jersey 05/19/2017 Mood: Ok
I used to be on this group years ago and posted about something I found that managed my HS but nobody was interested. I still manage to control my HS using this same method so thought I would post it to you guys yet again and hopefully some of you will try it and get some relief. I'm not selling anything or any site that sells anything so it's your choice if you want to try it. In the past year I've advised 3 people (friends of friends) who have had results from using two products you can buy from any health shop.
To get your HS under control, go out and buy some manuka honey. If I have a flare (which usually occurs because I run out of my maintenance tablets) I take a tablespoon of manuka honey once a day, if it's a bad flare, 2 tablespoons a day. On top of this I take 2 cinnamon tablets a day, again if it's a bad flare I take 2 tablets of cinnamon twice a day. Once your HS settles down, I stop the honey and carry on with the 2 cinnamon tablets daily as maintenance. You could continue with the honey to be sure but drop it to a teaspoon or two.
People on here seemed to be of the opinion that as it wasn't prescribed medication that it was a lame idea, but I've been using it for years now and it's the only thing that has helped me. This is not a cure! It is a method of managing outbreaks/flares. I rarely get them anymore. All you have to do is remember to take your cinnamon and honey so not a rigourous plan of action, lol.
For those of you in the UK, I get my manuka honey from Holland & Barrett (I try and get it when its on special offer as it is bloody expensive) and my cinnamon from Healthspan (my personal preference is the Healthspan Cinnamon but you can get it from Holland & Barrett also).
Anyway you guys ...... try it or don't, your choice. Good luck and if you do try it would love to know if it helps x

PS, have had this since my teens and I'm now 50. Tried antibiotics, washes, tumeric, zinc and pretty much everything that I've ever seen posted as a cure/treatment. Been using this method for 10 years now and it really does help. Again, I really hope some of you try it, so good luck xxx

my grand daughter is soon to be 16 and is a Downs Syndrome child. She has this HS really bad. Her mom is trying the nightshade thing but so far - zip!! May I ask if the cinnamon pills have an after taste? could we maybe put them in a smoothie to get her to drink it?? Could we do the manuka honey in a smoothie? our girl had open heart surgery at 4 months of age and many minor surgeries since and hates doctors and medicine with a passion. Her mom is the greatest mom i know and is looking for anything that might help our girl. So - thank you - thank you for helping others - even if it is not us. ~~The Tipton Family

Just ordered the Honey and Cinnamon Pills. Also ordered some Bee Propolis and Burdock Root. Praying that something will help. So far, Zinc gluconate and Turmeric and giving up Nightshades have not helped.

How many milligrams of Cinnamon in the capsule?
I too have tried Zinc and Turmeric and it did nothing for me. Dr wants to put me on Humira but I really do not want to use it.

To all that are trying this method: We are using the 500 mg capsules of the cinnamon twice a day. My grand daughter has Downs Syndrome and will not take a pill - so my daughter in law puts it in her smoothies. We are also using the Manuka Honey in her smoothies. The outbreaks seem to happen when she goes through her menstral cycle. We are doing this now as she has just finished her cycle. I will post again when she goes through it and let you know if it was effective or not. Good luck to all of you - I know this stuff is TOUGH - and I truly don't care what it is called - IT IS NASTY AND PAINFUL!!!

I will also tell you guys that we are using the Manuka Honey & cinnamon capsules that are sold by WalMart. Both the manuka honey and a bottle of the cinnamon were not even $20. That and a WHOLE LOT OF PRAYER!!! Thank YOU God for all you do for us!!!!

Hi to everyone. Sorry I haven't been on since posting this. Been on hols for two weeks and then between night shifts and a chest infection have neglected my computer. Hope those of you trying the cinnamon and honey get some relief soon. Happy to give you a bit more detail of what I use. I am in the UK so I get my cinnamon tablets from a company called Healthspan. They are "200mg cinnamon cassia extract (5:1) equivalent to 1,000mg pure cinnamon" ........ that is the exact wording on the packet. I take two tablets everyday and double it if I get a flare up. I know two of the people I got on to this treatment buy their cinnamon from a company called Holland and Barrett but I'm not sure what strength they use. One word of warning regarding the manuka honey ....... the pure/genuine stuff is ONLY produced in New Zealand! If it's not from New Zealand then I don't believe it is the real thing. Because of the New Zealand thing it is expensive over here in the UK. I pay about £25 to £40 for a 500g tub. It is graded on it's UMF and it usually goes from 5 (the lowest UMF) up. I like to go for a UMF of 15 or 20. The higher the UMF the higher the price.
Just a little note to add on. Just came back from two weeks on hols. One week into the hol got a nice big, painful lump in groin, probably from swimming costume (bit tight top of legs, lol). Only took enough cinnamon with me for 2 tablets a day, so the little bugger of a lump just stayed there for the whole of the second week! Thankfully it didn't get bigger or open up (my belief is that the 2 tablets a day kept it under control). When I got home took a tablespoon of manuka honey twice a day for 3 days, upped my cinnamon to 2 tablets twice a day and the little bugger was gone in 5 days, yay! 2nd note for you all ........ something I also noted many years ago regarding things that cause flare ups for me personally ....... artificial sweeteners! If I drink diet drinks, or eat foods that have a lot of artificial sweetener in them or use any form of artificial sweetener I can guarantee I will get a flare up. Just something to think about. Good luck all. Michele xxx

Hello Mygel2Jersey, MegsMaaMa mentioned manuka honey and mentioned that she got the idea from you. Geez E X P E N S I V E your right about that.
I just read about Turmeric capsules and that it what I’m taking at this moment. I started taking them this past Friday so I can’t really give a review. I will defiantly keep manuka honey and cinnamon capsules next on my list. I say that bc I’ve read a lot about turmeric so we’ll see how this goes and if it’s another NONE WORKING METHOD I will defiantly try yours. Thank you for advise!

@Mygel2Jersey - THANK YOU - A MILLION TIMES OVER - THANK YOU!!! I will google the cinnamon tablets you are using and get the right ones. We are also trying the Medihoney Gel Wound and & Burn Dressing for her eruptions. She has had 2 recently and I think it is probably because we are not giving her enough cinnamon. Good luck to all of you. THIS IS SOME NASTY STUFF RIGHT HERE. I am so sorry that you guys have to deal with this. It is very heart wrenching for this grandma to see our little girl go through this.

Michelle, I have been relaying your info to my daughter in law - who is one great mom - about the cinnamon and the manuka honey. she is asking if you ingest it OR do you use it on the eruptions please? I say both - but I would like to know what you think? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR HELPING US. We are going to stay with this and hope it works for our little girl like it has for you.

MegsMaaMa - I take the manuka honey orally. One tablespoon morning and evening whilst I have 'eruptions' and then reduce to one teaspoon once daily when they settle and then eventually stop it until I feel one coming up xxx
