Hello! I am new to this support group and have not sought much support for my HS. I recently had a bad flare in a new area and I have decided I am done with this and I am now on a journey to find what works for me. I recently went gluten free and have started on CBD capsules. I have noticed slight improvement but it hasn't been long. I am curious if anyone else had tried CBD? Did you have any success? How about going dairy free or gluten free? Hearing other people's experience is so helpful.

Hi! Sorry to disappoint you, but I haven't tried any of the treatments you asked about. I'm willing to try anything though, and I was wondering how CBD is working for you this far? Are you still on it? Can you keep us posted? It's unfortunate there's no more info.

I'm new to talking about HS and so embarrassed about it All!
I cab say, I recently had a very bad flare up and since I was laid off, I didn't want to go to the doctors. This was the first time tried it on my own. I had one prescription left of Bactrim but the flare up was so bad it didn't work. I did however try Bio Schwartz Premium Ultra Pure Turmeric Curcumin tablets, tea trees oil (which smell awful), witch hazel pads, tucks pads, PRID drawing salve and Boilez. I can say for the first time, it did help and I didn't have to go to the doctors.
For three or four days I used the drawing salve and boilez, taking turns with each, and it worked!
Taking the Turmeric tabs did help with the inflammation.

I have been dealing with this for 10 years, and this was the least painful process instead of having the doctor cut and drain it.

I do hope this can help someone else that is dealing with this awfulness!

Hi, I I have found a place of minor flare ups after 15 years of terrible ones coupled with folliculitis that would spread all the way to my ankles. I lost weight slowly through food and minimal exercise as HS and asthma make it hard HA. I still eat gluten, red meat, sugar and dairy but definitely not as much as before, I think it comes down to everything in moderation. I think the biggest starting point for me was cutting out heaps of sugar as my mother is pre-diabetic and I adopted her dietary approach of avoiding white breads, pasta, candies, junk food etc. Getting the weight down is the best way to fight HS and keeping stress down. Keeping both down are important for hormone levels as HS is a "chronic inflammatory skin condition with genetic and hormonal factors" (as my derm explained (she has seen hundreds of HS sufferers over a 30 year career)). So you can't fight genetics but you can keep hormones in check with diet and stress management. It is in the long game but keep at it and you will be kicking HS ass.
