Hi everyone,
I'm 18 years old and I've had HS for a little over a year now. I'm to the point where I wear jeans or work pants and I'm in pain all day because I get my boils in the creases between my legs and groin. For the longest time I didn't know what I had until I met someone with it because I've been misdiagnosed by doctors. I get told it's just an ingrown hair and to leave it alone and it'll go away. Just because our disease isn't very well known doesn't mean that it's not serious. I would just like someone to talk to about it because I feel so alone in it.

First off, know that you are not alone. I felt the exact same way when I was your age, so I know exactly what you’re going through. I’ve had HS since I was about 15, and I was misdiagnosed for years. I was frustrated and had no clue what was happening to my body. It was painful, ugly, and humiliating. It wasn’t until I hit my late twenties that I decided to be aggressive about finding a cure....which is hard....because not too many doctors really know what it’s all about. I highly recommend getting in with a dermatologist if you can. They can help suggest creams and medications that work for you. The more proactive you are the better. I know it sucks and it’s painful. I get flare ups around my groin and under my breats. It was sometimes painful to walk and really made me upset. But like I said, be proactive about it and it’ll make life way easier. I wish I would have started taking care of it at an earlier age. Im currently on a different medication from my dermatologist so still waiting to see results.

There was a study where people were taking 90Mg Zinc Gluconate per / day which put the disease into complete or partial remisson.
I have been taking 30Mg/ day for 2 months now and have not had any flare ups. I would encourage you to try it :)
(I also had laser hair removal and groin surgery recently.)
