Spots from sitting

Does anyone else get any lumps from sitting either crossed legged on a chair or with legs crossed on the ground? 

When my HS was at it's worst I was getting a bad patch on the spot on my calf where I crossed my legs and on my thighs from sitting with cross legged on the ground (I think because it was in the spot my ankle would press into). I have been trying to avoid this type of skin to skin contact since I felt it was making me break out in such bad ways.


Is this something other people experience as it is the same rubbing kind of thing of HS or is it something else entirely?

Wforwumbo- The thing that aggravated my HS was the same things that aggravates any skin condition such as yeast. Darkness, heat, moisture. When I was very overweight I would try to "air out' and keep as many areas as I could dry and clean. Most areas where I had/ got HS were aprocrine gland areas (groin, armpits, under breasts, under hanging gut skin) areas where there was- darkness, moisture, heat. If you are sitting cross legged on the ground you may not be overweight (resulting in sweat and dampness from skin to skin) and the area you described doesn't sound like a likely candidate area for HS in general. The ankle/ calf is a dry, exposed area. It may be simply irritation from grass, or where you were sitting, allergy. General skin to skin contact in dry areas I dont' think is typical of HS. Check with a dermatologist/ allergy person. The upper thigh maybe but not the other areas (calf, ankle).

Ah it would be very annoying to be talking two different skin conditions to dermatologists as they may just choose the easiest one to treat. HS is definitely something that's been happening for years and the spots on my legs have started showing more recently (maybe due to stress?) though I have made both the spots and HS slow down with A LOT of hard work.

I noticed this same thing with mine. Around my waist / pant line I would get more if I had something tight. I also noticed that when I had a breakout on one side of my butt, I would sit on the other side and the extra weight from sitting / rubbing would cause a new outbreak over there.

I don't know if this is true or not but I always felt like things were worse if I didn't shower right after exercising. This could have totally been in my head though from all the years of doctors telling me it was hygiene.

One thing that helped me immensely was the sunlight. I have a theory that HS only infects areas that are void of direct sunlight. When I would expose a lesion to sunlight for multiple days it would improve and start to heal more quickly. Tanning also helped but obviously is bad for your skin so I tried to keep that to a minimum.

I agree guybrown, I think tanning makes the skin a little tougher and the softer skin has a harder time against HS. Yes bad for skin so I try not to go too far but it also helps even out all the scarring.
