I'm a 35 year old female who has been suffering with HS since I was 18. I didn't get diagnosed until 2016. Doctors would always prescribe me antibiotics for my outbreaks! It seems like the antibiotics don't help me at all or maybe after taking them for all these years my body is probably immune to them?! I notice that I break out more during my monthly! It bothers me because my breakouts usually occur on my vagina and my butt. I've had them under my arms, behind my ear, my elbow, even on my knuckles one time, but my butt and vagina are my usual outbreak spots! I get overwhelmed and depressed a lot because I don't know what to do sometimes! The only support system I have is my fiance and I feel like he's getting tired of having to deal with me and my HS

I also had terrible issues with HS around my cycle. I went to my dermatologist. He is not a fan of chronic antibiotic treatment. I am on a course now of hormonal suppressant medications. I take 100mg of Aldactone to suppress testosterone production. I also take a low dose estrogen birth control pill to lighten my monthly cycle. I do not have any additional medical diagnosis, only HS. But! With these two pills, a daily Probiotic, and topical Clindamycin cream, I am almost 100% clear. I know that not all people and bodies are the same, but this is what has worked for me.

I also wash all my clothes in Lysol laundry sanitizer because it decreases the amount of bacteria on clothing. I don’t know if it really does anything for my HS, but since I’m the clearest my skin has ever been, I ain’t stopping now,

I’ve had HS for the last 20 years buttocks, waist, inner thighs and armpits are my most affected areas. This is what I’ve learned over the years. When I was younger my HS wasn’t that bad I stopped smoking for a about a year and had no outbreaks. I started smoking again and the flare ups started again. As the years went on I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and my HS got way worse. I could have up to 20 boils, and the new ones were popping up faster then the old ones could heal. It was a lot to deal with. I started to apply hydrogen peroxide to body before showering, and using acne wash for soap. I used both benzoyl peroxide and salyctic acid. I found the salyctic acid works better. After showering I would use an anti fungal foot spray on all my problem areas. I would atleast shower once a day using this technique, but most days I would shower twice. I found using this technique I could control outbreaks, and if I did get a boil it would be a really small one. However as soon as I stopped using the washing technique I would immediately flare up. I decided to do something about my diabetes and started doing the keto diet. While on keto I had no flare ups. However keto is a tough diet to stay on. As soon as I stopped keto it flared up again. I am no expert on HS but from my personal experience quitting smoking helps, hydrogen peroxide, acne wash, and anti-fungal foot spray helps, and the keto diet helps
