Hidradenitis suppurativa (hi-drad-uh-NIE-tis sup-yoo-ruh-TIE-vuh) is rare, long-term skin condition that features small, painful lumps under the skin. The disease manifests as clusters of chronic abscesses or boils, sometimes as large as baseballs, that are extremely painful to the touch and may persist for years with occasional to frequent periods of inflammation,...

My first spotĀ occurred around the age of I'd say 21 it was treated as acne then after I had my first child 4 years later about 5 months after I had him..i grew a baseball-sized cyst on left side of my cheek also it went above my right eyebrow. I went to my primary physician and because I had okay insurance at the time he immediately got me a plastic surgeon who in turn put in dissolvable stitches around 180 of them. None of the stitches actually dissolved I had new cysts grow on top of the scar and spent around a year getting them removedĀ at a wound specialist. Now at 34 years old I have a huge problem on the side of my neck that I inevitably have seen 12 doctors at least over the last 18 months for it I've had X-rays blood test I was even called crazy and at one point I checked myself into an intensive Outpatient Treatment Center where the doctor told me to stop worrying about it ,there was nothing there it was just a lump I must be doing this to myself he basically put me on all kinds of psych meds and I walked around like a zombie needless to say I have changed my doctor again and I'm finally getting somewhere I finally know that I don't have anything that I can give I know that I didn't get it from anybody and I just got this diagnosis two days ago. I currently just need to know if anyone else is making any connections as to what is causing it in them. I quit drinking alcohol I even had to quit smoking weed even though I think that that helped a bit instead of taking all these pills but because in Indiana weed is not legal and I've been going to all these doctors I wanted to prove that I was not causing this by any sort of recreational drug use. I do want to add that the one that is the largest right now on the left side of my neck is not the only spots that I have it's just the largest and will need surgery due to tunneling. and it's huge it's ulcerated it's bigger than a quarter and it's at least two millimeters deep I was wondering if anybody thought recreational drug use(cocaine, acid, mushrooms, meth, don't judge I was young and free and in Colorado) in their early years I'm talking 19 years old.possibly could that ruin an immune system? or was it just an unavoidable? my mom has some problems similar so I do feel that I inherited and got this bad luck skin. Also lupus runs in my family..any thoughts? Thanks for listening. Xoxo to all u who suffer
