I tried it years ago when they thought it was "just a staph infections." Haha didn't do anything... I don't know why but my doctors never cultured my abscess until AFTER they cut it out. Minocycline is an antibiotic, not going to do much for HS.

I have used it also. No results I think i'v been on every antibotic they make! !

I think ive had it, are the red capsules? Anyway i take tetracyline works much better for me and stops it in time before it becomes such a mess esp if i take it before the boils starts. Ask for tetracyline next time...

I got some turmeric and ginger. I just started taking them this weekend. I will let you all know if it makes a difference. I'm so ready to try ANYthing. I'm just not sure how much of it to take. If anyone has used it regulary let me know about your results.

I was on Minocycline for about 5 months and spent most of it being sick. I think I'm just over sensitive to the drug, but the doctor said that getting so sick was commong. I got very nauseous and dizzy. I spent a lot of mornings in bed. It definately took some getting used to.

As you will see - any antibiotic is a hit and miss game with HS...

Minocycline, at least in my case, is a "worst case" drug - to be used only during times of massive flares. My body can only tolerate 3-5 days of the medication... BUT (again at least for me) it works within 5-7 days (keeps working for a bit after you stop treatment). I would encourage building a good relationship with your doctor - you have to have trust in him or her and he or she not only needs to have trust in you - but have some knowledge of HS. I see that many people have went down the road of excise and drainage... my heart goes out to them - I believe this only compounds the issues and make HS so much worse. It took me from Stage I to Stage III overnight --- its barbaric on top of it!

I was on minocycline for 2 years and it worked well. I had to stop taking it becuz I got pregnant. I\'m going this week to see if I can get it precribed again since I am experiencing an unusual amount of flare ups. This time my stomach boils have not healed. they stay open and I am wearing gauze to protect the painful wound. I hate my scars. I can never wear bathings suits and I would never show anyone my belly area.

I was on Minocycline for almost a year. I don't remember the dosage. The side effects were as expected, mostly yeast infections and a little dizziness. It was the first time in many years that I was pain free and boil free! I thought it was a miracle. Then I stopped taking it! and it all came back with a vengeance!
