Minocycline, at least in my case, is a "worst case" drug - to be used only during times of massive flares. My body can only tolerate 3-5 days of the medication... BUT (again at least for me) it works within 5-7 days (keeps working for a bit after you stop treatment). I would encourage building a good relationship with your doctor - you have to have trust in him or her and he or she not only needs to have trust in you - but have some knowledge of HS. I see that many people have went down the road of excise and drainage... my heart goes out to them - I believe this only compounds the issues and make HS so much worse. It took me from Stage I to Stage III overnight --- its barbaric on top of it!
