I'm 50 and was just diagnosed. I'm devasted! What works and what doesn't? Diet's?
Wisdumb
I cut out dairy and gluten, it helped my flare ups. Bonus was weight loss which can also help. Can you elaborate on not being able to work? Is it because of HS? What stage are You? Some people find that cutting out all night shade vegetables help as well. Have you been prescribed any medications like antibiotics or topicals? I strongly urge you to find a therapist, wanting to die raised a red flag for me. Please don't harm yourself. This is a manageable disease. It's going to be ok. I have been depressed over the years and my therapist is a lifeline! We are all fighters, sometimes every day is a battle, but you have to know that you are strong and can do this!!!

Thank you Wisdumb. I just found out last week and they have me using Cleocin-t gel. My primary doctor referred me to a dermatologist. I've had the one spot for months. Now, since last week when I actually got the diagnosis, it's getting worse and I notice new cysts forming every day. I just pray that it stops and want all the info I can get my hands on. I sit at a computer all day at work. It worries me when I read how people have had to stop working, can hardly walk and how much it hurts. I am a single mom and have a mortgage. I have no other family other than my 2 kids. I'm an only child and my parents have both passed. I just have no idea what I would do if I couldn't work. Thank you again.

i am encouraging everyone on here to at least try the cinnamon and manuka honey posted by the ..jersey.. poster. it is less than 20 bucks and who knows - it may work. as soon as we know if it works for our little girl - we will post the results... Devastated93 - i don't know you - but you are a mom. Single Moms get special attention from God. He will be with you.

I'm allergic to cinnamon. I did buy Manuka honey. I'll have to look for the jersey poster. You are very sweet. Thank you for your kind words.. I just wish I'd stop getting more.... Every day, I have more. Although, today, I only noticed one new one and thought a couple of the others looked better. Mine don't all get to the point of draining. Do you cover with manuka honey and bandaid? I have to find out more about how to use this honey.

Can we drink wine? or beer? or any alcohol?
MegsMaaMa
Dear Devastated93, We are giving Megan the manuka honey in a smoothie. So - she is ingesting it. I know that there is a medical grade manuka honey to use as a rub - but that is not what we are using. Now that you have asked about this - i am concerned. The Jersey poster led me to believe she was ingesting it also - but I am not positive about that. I will google it to see that it is safe to ingest. As for the alcohol - I am not sure at all. Megan is a Downs child and is only 15. But none of us drink at all. there are other HS websites and i did see on one of them that it is not advisable to use a lot of alcohol. just google the words - not the initials and you will find a lot of information. this is a terrible condition and there are a lot of people that have it.
