Hi, I've been dealing with HS for a long time. It got really bad about 2 years ago. I could hardly move the sores were so bad. I tried everything, herbs special diets ,antibiotics. I started humira about 1 year ago and it has helped. I get around much better. It hasn't cured the HS but I'm at least 60% better. For me it's been great but it can have side effects. Dealing with HS is no joke,the pain, the ozzing, the mental part. So I'll take my chances with the side effects. It's extremely expensive luckily I've been able to get insurance to cover my once a week injection. Good luck with what ever you decide to do. I wish you the best.

I was diagnosed with HS last October. I had a flare up in both arms, both sores were leaking and swollen. I couldn't even lift my arms to put on a T-shirt. I was depressed and had terrible anxiety, I couldn't sleep and my moods changed rapidly. However, I was put on Humira after taking the same anti-biotic (Minocycline) for 3 months , this was a condition by my insurance and by Humira. I started taking Humira in June of this year. (This was because my doctor refused to treat me because I had moved out of the area, but could not find a dr where I lived so I stuck with him till I did. I was also misdiagnosed 2 times before I found the Dr I have now and showed her what I thought I had, she agreed but sent me to a Dermatologist to confirm)

Humira cured up one of my arms in about 2 months, it does have some scarring but is getting better due to use of Vitamin E gel. The other arm is improving and it should be closed by the middle of October at the latest.
Humira does not cure HS (obviously), but it does help get rid of the sores especially if they're out of hand, it also gave me the confidence to wear a sleeveless top again. Yes my bandage on my one arm does show but I don't care. I haven't leaked through my bandage since June, and the smell of the leakage has become less putrid.

Humira helped me a ton. The needle itself I don't find hurts but the PH balance in the solution. I take mine out of the Fridge about 30-45 minutes before I take it and I find that helps immensely. Humira also has an app for your phone or Tablet that helps to track your injections.

If you can get on Humira please do. It will hopefully make your life so much better.

I have been suffering with HS for a long time, ever since I went off to college. I didn't know what was going on with me until last year and I failed at every treatment level so now I am on Humira and I am in the Ambassador Program. The nurse is really helpful in that program. It's hard. My underarms are jacked up and the sores have since began to drain more from the tunnels that have been created from the sores and abscesses and they stink when they drain. My underarms are the absolute worst. However I have been seeing some improvements.

I was diagnosed this year and immediately started Humira, Clindamycin and Rifampin. I've seen a significant decrease in new flare ups, and I absolutely attribute this to the Humira. If you haven't already, ask about the Humira Complete savings card--my medication is covered to an extent by my insurance, but with the savings card I only pay $5 a month.
