Hidradenitis suppurativa (hi-drad-uh-NIE-tis sup-yoo-ruh-TIE-vuh) is rare, long-term skin condition that features small, painful lumps under the skin. 17 is an awful age for you to be burdened with this. I would like to suggest you see a Dermatologist or a Plastic Surgeon, someone familiar with HS. Most docs have no clue what it is or how painful and disabling it can be. Seek a specialist!!! Anti's don't usually work for most (I'm not a Dr. just my opinion) unless long term (months) then that usually wears off too. The key is finding your trigger. It may be certain foods like dairy, gluten, nightshades. It could be hormones or perspiring. If you can figure it out it will greatly help---but probably not cure.
Have your doctors talked to you about traditional surgery, plastic and or laser surgery?? I have heard from some people it helps a lot! Also, if sweating is a trigger (like me) have you tried swimming as a form of exercise? Just a suggestion:)
Whatever you decide on, try and stay positive. I know easier said than done-but you have a whole life ahead of you. As far as friends and dating-people with kindness in their heart do not focus on what's on the outside but what's on the inside! Others that don't are not worthy of you imo.
Stay strong, try not to get discouraged, look for your trigger, and come here anytime to cry and vent!!!
We're here for you always :)
