So docs are thinking Humira is the answer to, well it seems like everything now. I was wondering has anyone been on it for HS? If so did it help? Any side effects? and what about the spots that had a current infection that was active? the commercials for Humira say not to use it if you have an infection or open sores on your skin. Sometimes it seems like doctors have no idea at all.

I have been on Humira. All I am getting is increased drainage and I am still in pain. Especially under my armpits and when they drain it’s a foul stench. I keep having to bandage up and masking the sores. The Humira Ambassador I was assigned to who calls and checks on me says that it will take some time. I just want this crap to go away.

Dud me too. have been dealing with it since I was 16. only had one relationship which ended because of the smell before i even knew what i was dealing with. How much time do they say that their mariacle drug to kick in and start working? that shit is not cheap not compared to anything else. I had my chest completely freak out but was able to get it under control and heal like 98% of it by using nursing pads(cheaper then gauze and get more for your buck) coated in vaseline and sports bras since my skin hates any type of tape especially in the areas that are infectable.

I take nothing unless I've double checked it with a pharmacist. All drug ads make no sense, all drug companies want to have as many people as possible on their drug on or off label to make the maximum profits. Dr's never know as much about drugs as pharmacists period.

I spoke with my doctor about getting on it and she absolutely did not want me going on it. She would rather me go on accutane than on humira!

I participated in the hs fda study for humira and have been on it for years. After the study was over and approved to be prescribed for hs legally, I stopped taking it because I wanted to be free of the meds and didn't see how much it had helped over the years. I had been off for 11 months and life with hs returned with a vengeance. It does not cure it..didn't for me as my case is pretty severe, but definitely made life more manageable. I would recommend it to anyone..its the only true relief.

But it is an expensive med that sounds like i has too be long term or hs returns worse then it was before

My doc recommended it, but when he said it was an immune system suppressant I tuned the rest out. No thank you! I'll stick to my topical skin lotion and periodic antibiotics.

i saw that you were using nursing pads instead of gauze, you're right so much better, tape was ripping my skin off

ripping the skin off and for me i had more sores pop up where tape had been so the areas were just getting bigger and bigger.

Im new in this group whatever you do please do not take that drug you hqve to take it for rest of your life it cause cancer and other stuff as well if you stop taken that drug your hs will come back 10 time wores then what it was before

the treatment is only for 6 months i think you are confusing it with another drug

I took it and after 2 months I had breakouts in several areas as well as extreme side effects. Fatigue, headaches, nausea. Still 6 months later I am still not healed. I was only paying 5 dollars for monthly dose because humera paid the rest. I would not recommend.
