I have been battling with HS for about 8years :( it's so embarrassing. It's hard to even be intimate with my fiancé because I feel embarrassed and I can't even stand to look at myself and not sure how he can look at me I feel so ugly and nasty. I don't know what to do and have no one to talk to about this. Also if anyone has any tips or tricks that would be awesome

There are many different ways to be intimate. So you'll have to find what works best for you. Dealing with HS is so difficult on so many levels. Try to find a treatment that at least gives you some relief. Don't let the HS define you. Your so much better than this disease. Stay positive and good luck.

Vicks helps with pain and itching and bring things to a head. Also a hot compress works combat pain. Unfortunately nothing can get rid of it. Just keep visiting the doctor and get on their nerves and see if you can get surgery for bad flare ups. Good luck.

I think the most improvement I've had with my HS has been by changing my diet. I've tried A LOT of things to try and suppress it. Turmeric, Zinc, Tea Tree Oil, Apple Cider Vinegar, Manuka Honey, countless creams, etc. Those things have mostly been good for post-outbreak for me to heal the boils or bring them to a head. Cutting out nightshades and dairy has helped me tremendously. Recently, I've read a lot about gluten and HS and the similarities between Celiac Disease and HS. That's where my road is now. A gluten-free, dairy-free, nightshade-free eating lifestyle. You need to find what works for you since everyone's body is different. Keep a journal and write what you eat down. Outbreaks typically happen within 24-72 hours for me after eating a "trigger" food. I've had HS since I was around 12 - I'm now 30. Don't feel discouraged. We're here for you. <(^_^<) Message us. :)

I thought I replied earlier but I guess it didn't send x.x .. intimacy is hard I've had HS since I was 13 I'm 24 now, but my boyfriend loves me regardless and he's seen most of my scars and current infections (it's gross and makes me feel disgusting too sometimes) he always says I think it's worse than it really is :/ Anyways we're expecting now and I'm more worried for baby than anything because of the HS, but the MDs tell me I shouldn't worry about it and that it shouldn't affect the baby. My 19 year old sister took minocycline for 3 months 100 mg daily and started brand sprintec birth control and her HS cleared completely... for a year. She got off birth control last week and now has about 6 boils... The same treatment didn't work for me, but I'm so bad at taking my medicine
