Hi all - my name is Lauren and I am 23. I have had HS since I was about 11 years old, but at the time it was misdiagnosed as dermatitis. I have had my official diagnosis for almost 3 years now, and I wanted to share something that has helped me and also ask some questions about what has helped you. 


My morning and night routines go a little something like this:


1- Wash affected areas with hypoallergenic baby wipe right after waking up and right before going to bed


2- Pat dry 


3- Gently rub skin with dry body brush (I use one from EcoTools). If you have open sores I reccomend being very careful or skipping this step all together. However, I have found that sticking to this routine = way less open sores. 


4- Roll over all affected areas with the MAGICAL DEVICE called the "Burt's Bees Blemish Stick"


5- Jump up and down and yell "FUCKKKKK" approximately 17 times. The blemish stick is magical but it stings for about 5 minutes after application. 


6. When stinging ends, put on thick layer of Burt's Bees diaper rash cream.


This has helped me A LOT. More than hibiclens or bleach baths or anything I've ever tried. I hope it helps you all. I started seeing real results with this method after about 3 days, and reduction of past scarring after about two weeks. 


So, what have you guys tried? Laser Hair Removal? Nightshade free/paleo diet? Humira? Please let me know what has worked for you!

Hey, I too am very new to this group and I feel you with your step 5, it seems to be a vital step in nearly all treatment or preventative processes! The only constant thing I have found is to keep my stress levels down, the moment I start becoming stressed or anxious I am bound to have a flare up, without question. Warm epson salt baths seem to help as well but be prepared to practice your step 5, ten times over!

Love this! as I've also found regular exfoliation (making sure not to be too harsh) and moisturising (quite generously everyday) from waist to feet has been crazy successful with minimising ingrown hairs and thus the formation of a lot more lumps.

I like to use a vitamin E oil similar to bio oil on my under arms as moisturisers can be too sticky for that particular area. It also helps with the ingrown hairs but is a lot harder to control underarms sadly.
