I'm not over weight and I still get sores. If I could lose more weight I would but I can't so I don't quite think weight is a key factor. I think it can aggravate it in some people but there are just so many unknowns with this disease... I hope you feel better! Maybe stressing over a new diet could be causing flare ups? I know when I have a stressful week I expect a bunch of sores to pop up over the weekend of the following week... -_-

I have noticed that both friction and sweat cause flares for me. so baey it working out, not losing weight.

I was overweight when I was first diagnosed and had a subsequent surgery from an HS related surgery. Surgeon told me carbs can aggravate HS so I went on a diet and lost 40 pounds and have kept it off for almost 3 yrs. I still have bad flares right now I am fighting 3 sores on one side, on heavy antibiotics and cannot get a handle on it! This is probably the 6th flare in the last year. So, I'm not convinced the weight I lost helped but from what I see on here I think the surgeon who is an HS specialist was right about the carb/flare connection I had lost weight recently due to a stressful time so I was trying to gain back and I have been carb crazy!! Exercise also aggravates my flares, however swimming is great and water sports that don't cause the friction associated with other forms. Good luck hope my 2 cents helped ;)
