I just found out I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (pcos) and started to notice a trend that a lot of the people in that support group were also in this support group for HS. Has anyone heard of the two diseases being linked at all?

Something I was just wondering :)

I don't know if there is a link but I wouldn't be surprised. I also have PCOS and HS so there may be something to it.

Yes my 17 yr old daughter has had HS for 10 yrs and was recently checked for PCOS as the consultant said the conditions are linked. Ask your endocronogist for advice.

I have PCOS too. After going to several doctors and them telling me that I didn't have it, the third time was a charm. He said that I did have it, and that it does make my HS worse, because of the hormones. I think everything is connected in some small way.

I to was wondering the same thing. I am due to get married i July of this year and we been together for years and trying to have a baby int he mean time found out I have PCOS. Trying to lose weight is driving me nuts to say the least. I go back to the endocronogist on the 29th and I plan on asking him all about this and what is going on! Hoping to get some answers here.

Thank you all for responding :) Im gonna talk to my endocronogist who has made me see the light at the end of the tunnel and has helped me feel not lost for once!

Its nice to hear that Im not the only one thinking these may be linked!

I don't know if I have it or not, because I've never been diagnosed with PCOS, but I have many of the symptoms (acne, facial hair, irregular periods and other hormonal imbalances). So I asked my endocrinologist to check it again since HS and PCOS many times come together. I'm waiting for the results now. Fingers crossed ;-)

I've been told by several doctors I have the symptoms, but they've yet to offcially diagnose me. Like photojean said, you're not alone! :)

I have both as well I was prescribed 2000mg of metphormin and the weight fell off I lost 70 lbs in like 3 months bc the PCOS is preventing your metabolism from functioning properly. I also had some results with the chin hair getting better too. I hope you dr finds something that can help you too!!!]

Cyst on the inside....cysts on the outside....How f-ed up can this be!!!
I've met several women who have pcos...who now have them migrate to the outside of their bodies......Perhaps this has to do with insulin sensitivity??

I have POCS and HS and my dermatologist recently told me that the two are linked because of the hormone issue. I also got a print out from my surgical clinic that explain HS. Under the risk factor section which explains increase factors of your chance of developing HS and one of the factors is PCOS, insulin resistance or syndromeX. Hope this helps.
