Im having surgery on my armpit next week.. I don't consider my case to be as bad as some I've seen on google. Has anyone had surgery for a minor case? How long was recovery? I am a server and I dont want to be down to long.

Hi there. My grand daughter had to have emergency surgery on 3/15/17. She had a lump that would not go away and her pediatrician recommended surgery. She has Downs and had open heart when she was 4 months old, so she has a compromised system and they don't run risks with her getting infected. Anyways, it has been 3 weeks tomorrow and she is almost completely healed over now. but the first week was tough on her and her parents. Hers was a sizable open wound that they left to heal over on its own. we are hoping that the lumps will stop in that area now - but that remains to be seen. Good luck to you. Look online for ways to secure your bandages - try not to use tape. Google "ways to bandage armpit wounds" and you will find a lot of information. Her mom is using the ace bandage that you tie around your middle. it worked well for her.

I will say a prayer for you Ashmwil!!! God will be with you. I understand that the condition is very painful. And the underarm area is very sensitive too. Take the pain meds that they offer. I just had my knee replaced in November and I took the pain meds they gave me. Once I could taper off - I did and now I use NOTHING!! God was with me every step of the way. I can almost run on my bionic knee!! And my grand baby is almost healed. If I could I would send you a picture of her arm. Good luck to you tomorrow!!

yes I've had one removed and it was such a great relief. I wish I could remember the recovery time but I am thinking just one or two days for great improvement. God bless!

Did you get to check out my old post somewhere else on this site? Here it is: Wiley HRT doctors just sent me this explanation: This is the ONLY thing that will resolve hidradenitis which is caused by the androgenic (male hormone) compensatory response to inadequate estrogen - aptly described as incessant puberty. Until you quell the adrenal androgen release with subsequent torso fat accumulation, insulin resistance, aromatization to estrogens, the apocrine / sebaceous systems will remain in overdrive and the glucose / insulin imbalance will complete the triad. As body weight explodes, the involved areas become more susceptible. Thanks everybody. I had surgery yesterday. Its not very painful more so aggravating because of the staples and the way i have to hold my arm. I get to take my bandages off today. And see the damage.. Im a little nervous about that part. Im a server so hopefully i get to return to work very soon. Im so glad I found this group..

It is so good to know you are ok. Be careful removing your bandages - you probably should do it sitting down. Seeing that may cause you to get weak in the knees!! My 6' 5" son faints at the sight of blood - so there's that :). I hope that you recover quickly - but take it easy and let your body heal before you plunge back into your work and life. This site is very helpful. Knowing you are not alone matters.

I've had 'surgeries' in multiple places on my body (groin area once and under breast 3 times) and the surgery is SO worth it. It's painful but relieving. I was down for about 3 days after groin and 2 days after breast, but they give you good pain killers. So that's the good news! It's gonna be just fine!
