Sounds like we're in the same boat! I would love to know how to keep my flare ups under control! My doctor also wants me to consider Humira, but after researching it and its side effects, I'm scared to try it! I'm sorry we have to deal with HS

Have your daughter shower/bathe with Mysore Sandal Soap daily. It's a lather rich sandalwood soap manufactured in India, and I can personally attest to it getting my HS under control. Go with the 150 gram bars. I love the smell of sandalwood anyway, and it really perfumes up the bathroom. Sandalwood has antibacterial and antiinflammatory and antioxidant properties and it's good for your skin. The place I buy it is an Indian Store out of New York online. I actually took part in their study and got free jars of the stuff and have 1 left that is getting low but I won't buy it. There is a lady on Etsy who makes a healing butter that I use for a bad breakout to make the pain go away, It has Emu oil in I that helps fade scarring. Most of all she's got to keep stress level down, as it just makes it worse. Use a good cleaner in bathroom on toilet and shower/tub that has bleach in it or that kills germs. I hope this helps.

@BeesGirl ...hello I seen you say the doctor wanted you to try Humira. I’m. 34 years old women I had HS for almost 10 years .... i have a very bad case any who I been taking Humira for 2 years now I don’t have many side effects just went I get sick I get sick because it weaken your Immune system it’s helps but I feel like nothing really works It’s like 11:30 at night and I’m in so much pain so I thought I get on her and see that I’m not alone

I’ve had HS for the last 20 years buttocks, waist, inner thighs and armpits are my most affected areas. This is what I’ve learned over the years. When I was younger my HS wasn’t that bad I stopped smoking for a about a year and had no outbreaks. I started smoking again and the flare ups started again. As the years went on I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, and my HS got way worse. I could have up to 20 boils, and the new ones were popping up faster then the old ones could heal. It was a lot to deal with. I started to apply hydrogen peroxide to body before showering, and using acne wash for soap. I used both benzoyl peroxide and salyctic acid. I found the salyctic acid works better. After showering I would use an anti fungal foot spray on all my problem areas. I would atleast shower once a day using this technique, but most days I would shower twice. I found using this technique I could control outbreaks, and if I did get a boil it would be a really small one. However as soon as I stopped using the washing technique I would immediately flare up. I decided to do something about my diabetes and started doing the keto diet. While on keto I had no flare ups. However keto is a tough diet to stay on. As soon as I stopped keto it flared up again. I am no expert on HS but from my personal experience quitting smoking helps, hydrogen peroxide, acne wash, and anti-fungal foot spray helps, and the keto diet helps

Hi, the first thing anyone with HS should do is quit smoking and lose weight. Do these two things above all else and don’t give up. It will help reduce the amount of breakouts you get, sometimes entirely but almost always by a large amount. I used to have 5+ at a time in all the normal HS areas but lately I go through stages of remission for 6-12 months and then minor breakouts for 1-2 months and then back into remission. An elimination diet for “triggers” might warrant a try but honestly I think losing weight in general should be a top priority, while being on the lookout for sensitivities to certain foods.

Remember that HS can rarely cause cancer (SCC), always check for typical skin cancer signs and never attribute HS to the presence of a pain-free lump
