Man sometimes I get so down and in the dumps because I feel so gross. Summer is coming and I always have to get a skirt with my swimsuit because my HS is on my thighs. :( I just look at my HS sometimes and want to scream. It is so difficult having HS. Sorry to complain. I just hate being 17 and having to worry about my skin. I feel so ugly that I cry. I am having one of those days. :/

I was your age when i was diagnosed too (17 going on 18) and i was just so happy to have finally found the answer! Doctors thought at first it was MRSA and i can't tell you how many doctors i have seen for it. Sooo many still look at me like EWW what the h*** is that? I just like you get very depressed over watching my body go to crap. I remember being able to wear a bikini and shorts and not have people stare at my scars or bumps. I remember being able to do and wear whatever i wanted and not having to worry about how much pain it is going to cause me. Whenever i try to tell my mom what im going through she just cries which often times leads to me crying too. I am in a long term relationship now and he is quite supportive and claims it doesn't bother him but i know it does. It affects many aspects of our relationship. I had HS when we met but it has gotten much worse throughout the 2 1/2 years we have been together. Alot of the time i do not feel pretty or sexy and once i am in that rut its hard to get me back out. So i know how you feel because i am exactly the same way. I am only 24 and feel like why me? as if i don't have enough health issues and other problems in my life! This support group is great because i now feel i have people to relate to in where my family tries but still they just will never fully understand the daily pain and struggle.

I was 15 when I first started getting flares. I thought it was just acne on my inner thighs. I used to wear shorts and tshirts into the pool, beach anyway because I am a bigger girl. I didn't let that stop me from having fun though and you shouldn't either!! I am now 26 and just have the confidence to wear a "fatkini" with a sheer black bathing suit cover. You can't see my scars but it also shows just enough for me to feel attractive. I know it is difficult but please don't wait as long as I did to find confidence. There are always super cute bathing suit with skirts or shorts now a days and even cuter sheer covers. Be patient and find one that works with your body babe!! I promise you noone is bothered by your body as much as you are and once you stop feeling so ashamed, the easier it will be to let it all go and have fun. You are young and deserve to have fun!! Remember that.

Same Here....sorry to hear yours are on your thighs....But don't despair, salt water is excellent for your HS. :) I am looking forward to going to the beach this summer just to soak. Ahhhhh....
I began my HS at the age of 10...it's been 35 years of hell, and sometimes it hurts more than others....Don't let your HS stop you...get out and get some sun/salt!
