Have been reading alot about HS lately and most sights agree that low-glycemic diets do help HS. Elisa is on the paleo diet which is very good diet with no refined carbs ( white bread, rice, corn, ) and I have to believe that this will keep her blood sugars much more level. She has lost 10 pounds since starting the diet. She also cant have gluten it is like very, very bad for anybody with HS....if Elisa eats gluten her skin turns horrible. This diet is not easy but is doable..... I also have read in many sites that those with boils cant have corn syrup. It brings out more boils...... I looked at Elisa's sausag that she was eating and it had corn oil in it and corn syrup...I took away the sausage immediately. also she has supplements she takes with corn syrup; no more of those and also John Morrell hot dogs that are gluten free have corn syrup in them as well. I bought Hebrew hot dogs today instead of those. Hebrew do not have any fillers, or gluten.....or cornsyrup. They are beef by the way...... We need to research what we eat and realize that it could definately make the disease process even worse....For those of you that are having horrible times with your HS perhaps a diet change could bring about better health..... I know there is no cure for HS but perhaps with diet change there can be a remission of all the symptoms that you all have..... Antibiotics nonstop are not the answer. They lower the immune system. Surgery also can be very trying and still the boils come back...... Just something to think about....tangerinebear

Kudos if it works. Science has shown it can help some people but nothing works for ALL people!

Now I am self sufficient....and luckily have a roommate that is MORE gluten free than I am since he is also 100% dairy free and a little OCD. He will not buy anything unless the ingredients are all gluten free AND the package explicitly says "GLUTEN FREE" on it, lol. I am more daring, going with salsas and other things that have no gluten free ingredients but may or may not say "GLUTEN FREE" on the package.
Working out good so far. My roommate is 21 and really into bodybuilding. He does not have HS but has digestive problems and he swears by this diet now. His determination helps me too and I'm thankful for it.
