Hi all, I've had HS for about 5 years, 2 years of which have been pretty bad. Last April I was diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer that was also in 4 of my lymph nodes. I had pretty serious chemo for 4 1/2 months, which exacerbated my HS like WHOA. It has never really improved since then. I had hoped that Tamoxifen would improve it, since it blocks estrogen in some tissues, but to no avail. I also have a lot more skin irritation, and have broken out in hives a few times, since starting Tamoxifen, which makes me super paranoid that my HS may spread.
My oncologist is more than willing to allow me to switch to the other class of hormone therapy--aromatase inhibitors. I'm a little worried about another unknown quantity, but if it helped the HS while also preventing cancer recurrence, that could be wonderful. Has anyone switched from Tamoxifen to an AI and seen an improvement in their HS?
I am new here and I read your story. I had breast cancer, i am a triple negative and it was in one lymph node. Stage 1. I did chemo and radiation. After completion of treatments I started to have major flare up. I am a transplant recipient,so my immune system is already compromised. But its very chall. I haven't been officially diagnosed but I know this is what I have. I went to my gyn recently and was tested for other things. Everything is negative.
