Hello,

I recently joined this group and wanted to know what anyones' experiences have been using biologics for treating HS. I have been on weekly Humira injections since June of last year and up until the last two months the severity of my lesions had lessened and the flare ups had been reduced. Recently though I have experienced a sever ongoing flare up that is worse than any I have experienced before, and seen a spread in areas affected by lesions. Has anyone else encountered this? I have a check-in with my dermatologist in 3 weeks but wanted to know others experiences so I could be better prepared for my appointment.

I haven't been on Humira for HS but I'm going to start bi-weekly injections for arthritis (and hopefully it will help the HS too). I have read that other people have said the same thing as you. I hope the flare up stops soon. Good luck! Oh I recently found out that Head and Shoulders is a great wash for affected areas! My dermatologist told me ~1 month ago and I didn't believe it but I've been using it and its awesome.

I have recently experienced the same thing. At first when I started humira it was great. Less out breaks and the duration was shorter. But in the last couple months, which had only been about 5 months on humira, that has all changed. My out breaks have gotten worse. I do see relief a couple days after given my injections but come day 7. It's bad. I wish I could take the medication more frequently. But who knows if that would actually work. I'm also afraid to quit taking the medication and it gets even worse than now. I hope this helped???.

As stated above, I have experienced more frequent and larger outbreaks as well now. I have been taking Humira injections initially once every 2 weeks for about 2years and then it was increased to one shot every week for the last 2 years. The increase helped for a while but within a few months the flare ups became more frequent again. I am thinking about changing my diet to see if that helps.
