Has anyone found an effective way to bandage the groin area?
I have tried so many times and nothing stays. I get bandages from a medical supply company that medicaid pays for. Some are already adhesive applicative which is nice, but any time i try to bandage the groin area, the bandage just gets in the way, or doesn't stay.

Have you tried a vasoline-type one? Xeroform, I think is the brand name with an antibiotic on it. Or Acticote is what my son uses currently for the groin. If you make it wet first it sticks to your skin. There is also Micropor tape that you can tape to your skin that doesn't rip your skin when you take it off. You could use a primary dressing like Xeroform or Acticote, wrap it with Kerlix, and tape it in place.

thanks, I'll try to see if my supply company has those things or if i can get medicaid to pay for them some other place if not.

This may sound nuts, but I found that plastic backed pads for breastfeeding works great. The kind I use is made by Lansinoh(sp?) and it has an adhesive strip on the back that can strick right to your underwear. I wear the boy shorts panties and it seems to help it stay in place nicely.

This may sound nuts too!! I have had to use nappies (sri English expression). But I cut off all the plastic surounding the nappy so I end up with a long pad which works quite well.

I just use Johnson and Johnson 3x3 Pads. I have help in that area as my husband is a "Surgeon Wanna-Be", and has been a great doctor to me in the past 5 years. I use "Sensitive Skin" Tape. Which his "hardly" for sensitive skin.

I've only ever used regular 3x3 or 4x4 sterile pads, it doesn't always stay, but it seems to help enough.

You might feel uncomfortable trying this but.. Maxi pads and panty liners work great for bandages. If your skin is really irritated you can stick the adhesive to your clothes to give your skin a break. And they are a lot cheaper than bandages.

Normally I just use some of that drawing salve on the back of a big BandAid. Depending on the size of the boil, I often use the bigger, square type pads. They typically stick pretty well until it starts to drain. Then I just put another one on. As for actually bandaging it, though, I can't imagine how that would work. I sure do wish you luck in finding the perfect remedy!

My allergist gave me square plastic that sticks around the edges. It was about 6x6 in. I put 4by4 gauze over the area first.

You can also take an old t-shirt and cut it about 5 to 6 inches wide around the bottom and tying it over clean gauze pads around the thigh area. I would use this for going out and just to keep it from rubbing.

I wish that there was a warm patch that can connect to the area. Why doesn't thermapatch come up with a customizable pad that can attach to HS sites?
