Hidradenitis Suppurativa Support Group
Hidradenitis suppurativa (hi-drad-uh-NIE-tis sup-yoo-ruh-TIE-vuh) is rare, long-term skin condition that features small, painful lumps under the skin. Many of us have found we have a food related trigger for hs. You can do the autoimmune protocol diet (or a modified version of it) to determine if certain foods are a trigger for you. The main food groups are gluten, night shades, dairy, eggs and nuts. The modified AIP diet is easier to do... Completely eliminate 1 group from your diet for 3 weeks and monitor for any changes (lesions healing, no new lesions or significant slow down in appearance of new ones). If things start to clear up, you've found a trigger food. Eliminate it from your diet moving forward and flares will happen much less often if at all. if no change, move onto eliminating the next food group and monitor for change. Repeat until you've eliminated all of them at some point. Complete elimination of the food group is vital...just reducing consumption is not enough. Think of it like an allergy - it doesn't matter if you eat a little or a lot of the food you're allergic to, the reaction still happens.
If you haven't read it yet, get a copy of the book called the hidden plague by Tara grant. Quite eye opening and far ahead of many primary doctors and even specialists when it comes to hs. Good luck to you!
