Hi, everyone. I was having one of those days where it seems like nothing is getting better, and googling for some new things to try to deal with the HS when I stumbled upon this group. I've been dealing with HS since I was 16, and while I am able to get through each day without it being noticeable to others that I have a problem, it's difficult to bare at times. Hoping that this group will help with dealing with the stress and finding tips to get through each day easier. I was reading on some websites about how using baking soda as deodorant has helped with the smell...has anyone else tried that? I started using a gilette clinical safe deodorant that works great with controlling odor (unlike many natural deodorants) but seems to be causing more inflammation on underarms area...I know it's not supposed to be used when there's open wounds but there's rarely a time where there isn't, and I can't just be stinky...I was reading about the hibiclense, so I may try that again...I was using it for awhile until someone told me it's actually bad to use too much...something about what it does to your skin's good bacteria? Well, hopefully I can find some new info on here to help make this struggle easier! Thanks for reading! :)

Hello Gebbo welcome to the group as far as your deodorant there is a thread on there about Dove deodorant I suggest that you read al of that thread there is some good info on it. If you need a someone to talk to just hit me up I will be glad to share what I have used and has worked and what has not but each of us are different so what works for me may not help you but that is what this is for to try to help each other right.

Welcome. & SRG is right. I too have been suffering with hs since I was a teenager. Mine isn't noticable to. Anyone else either but sometimes I go crazy when I look in the mirror or I feel one coming on. If you smoke quit. Quitting smoking did wonders for my hs! It took about 3 mnths to start getting better but slowly it did. And back to the deodorant subject, I used dove for years and after trying some natural deos I finally went back and its helping a lot...I think u should read the thread as well!

Thanks for the suggestions. This week I've been using hibiclens on my underarms and also using baking soda as deoderant and by the time I come home from work I still have no odor so I guess that's a good fix for now! I'll have to try a few days doing just one thing so I can see if it's the hibiclens or the baking soda that's really fixing the problem! I'm about to make another appt with my dermatologist soon to see if I can get the laser hair removal covered now that I have a different insurance provider! Wish me luck! I'll ask him about the hibiclens and bacteria too to see if I should be limiting use of it

Turmeric is what has worked for me, 7.99 Wal-Mart : ) I have been getting laser hair treatments for about a year and they have made a difference but I really believe the Turmeric was what really produced the best results.

I never seem to notice results with turmeric. I've tried the capsules as well as putting the turmeric powder in a drink or food, but never really saw a change like most people seem to notice right away. Did your insurance cover your laser treatments?
